I am a member of an organic CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and cook most of our meals from scratch, yet I still can’t seem to shake an addiction to Diet Coke and doughnuts. As a result, from June 21, 2009 to June 21, 2010 I photographed nearly every item I ate and drank in an effort to record everything I consumed during my 32nd year. I am investigating — through my own consumption — how what we eat can define our identity. This project, a self-portrait, is an extended examination of the age-old adage “you are what you eat.”
